Review of Andrew Field’s Book on Grouchy

This series of Andrew Field’s books, translating French accounts of the Waterloo campaign into English and describing the campaign from their side, goes from strength to strength. I had some small reservations in his handling of Volume 1 covering Quatre Bras, but his Waterloo book was excellent and if possible his book covering  Ligny and Wavre is even better, dealing with a part of the campaign rarely covered well in British histories of the campaign, particularly the 17-19 June. Thoroughly recommended.

I see his fourth volume, the rout & retreat to Paris, will I am sure be of just as high a standard and I look forward to reading it.
